SPECIAL SLICES - THE ORIGINAL MANGA SERIES

在中国，有数百万心智障碍人士。而最新数据显示，该群体的就业率不到 2% ，是所有残疾人中最低的。为此，希儿森儿童服务中心–—ELG学建的姐妹非盈利组织发起了这个振奋人心的公益项目，期待可以让心智障碍成年人的就业问题得到更多关注。

There are millions of people with intellectual disabilities in China. According to a recent report, the employment rate for people with intellectual disabilities was less than 2 percent, the lowest among all disabled groups. Xiersen – ELG’s sister organization has embarked on an exciting new project to address this important social issue.

希儿森是一家在中国正式注册的非盈利组织，其使命是“改善中国特殊教育的现状”。他们最近发起的AWARE提升意识活动 – 非凡剪影漫画项目，旨在帮助解决人们对心智障碍群体的认知和理解问题，以获得公众以及社会各界的支持。

遗憾的是很多心智障碍人士在成年后找不到工作，没有人生目标。

《非凡剪影》是由希儿森主导的原创漫画系列，得到了中国人气漫画艺术家转轮手枪（本名：曲志国）和西安泽塔时代文化传媒（ Gen Z Group） 的支持。

Xiersen is a local NGO whose mission is “to improve the condition of special education in China”. Their latest AWARE campaign aims to raise awareness of challenges and opportunities for adults with intellectual disabilities and also create jobs for them – all through the power of manga!

“We know that many people do not understand the situation of adults with intellectual disabilities but need a way to learn about this situation.
It is sad that many people who have intellectual disabilities do not find jobs or purpose in their adult lives.
We believe that the more people learn, the more they can do to help or hire people with intellectual disabilities. Those with intellectual disabilities want to fit into society and make a meaningful contribution to their lives just like everyone else.

Special Slices is an original manga series developed by Xiersen with the support of popular Chinese manga artist Zhiguo Qu 转轮手枪 (Revolver) and Gen Z, an educational media company based in Singapore.

为何关注心智障碍人士的就业机会？

Why focus on vocational opportunities?

《非凡剪影》讲述了不同人物有着不同职业追求的故事。漫画改编自真人真事，但在漫画中使用了虚构的名字和形象。

在创作的过程中，希儿森团队通过访谈漫画人物原型、他们的家人和雇主，以及其他与故事有关的人，尽可能全面地深入了解每一个角色。

对于很多人来说，可能会觉得上班是一件再平凡不过的事情，甚至觉得这只是一项任务。但对于心智障碍人士而言，拥有一份属于自己的工作是那么意义非凡。

对他们来说，工作不仅仅可以提升他们的自信心，增强自己的自尊心，而且使他们感到更加地独立，也令他们拥有使命感和自豪感。同时，就业更意味着可以帮助他们的家人，减轻家庭负担（有些家长认为自己的孩子很难找得到工作）。然而，当他们的孩子有合适的工作机会时，家长们这才意识到在一个被支持、接纳的环境中，工作竟会对孩子产生如此巨大的积极作用。希儿森希望通过非凡剪影系列漫画让人们更加了解心智障碍人士是如何努力地融入社会和作出自己的贡献。

Special Slices tells the story of different characters with various vocational pursuits. All of these characters are based on real life individuals but some with fictional names and likenesses.

When creating new episodes, the Xiersen team tries to understand as much as they can through conducting interviews with the person being featured, their family members, their employers and other people connected to the story.

For many of us, going to work might feel mundane, or might feel like a necessary chore. But having a job can have a big impact on a person with intellectual disabilities.

For those with intellectual disabilities, employment can boost their confidence, improve their self-esteem and help them feel more independent, giving them a sense of purpose and pride. It also helps their families, some of whom once thought that their children would never be able to find work. However, when given the right job opportunity, they noticed that working in a supportive, accepting environment has had a huge positive impact on their children.

Xiersen hopes that when people read this Magna, they will see how people with intellectual disabilities belong in society, and also can contribute a lot to their communities.

Employing a person with an intellectual disability may give one person a job – but it also has a positive ripple effect on many other people and situations.
